Child Requiring Intubation with Unknown Airway Characteristics at PHL Campus

This pathway should be used to guide the care of children of all ages, including preterm and term infants, requiring intubation in all PHL Hospital units (i.e., SDU, N/IICU, CICU, PICU, ED) outside of the OR.

Children requiring Urgent/ Emergency Intubation on Inpatient Units outside of the ICUs:

  • Call 4-CODE (4-2633)
  • The Code Team will activate Airway Response Team as needed.

Micrognathia Post-op Mandibular Distraction Osteogenesis Patients

Fresh post-op MDO micrognathia neonates/infants may be classified as known difficult or critical airways depending upon ENT designation at OR MLB (see ENT procedure note).
