Refer to ED
When to Use EMS for Transport
Patient with PASS score= 6 or acute respiratory distress
- Severe tachypnea
- Bradypnea or apnea
- Severe retractions, nasal flaring, grunting
- Fatigue or lethargy from respiratory effort despite albuterol treatments in the office
- Pulse oximetry < 90% with evidence of increased work of breathing or poor aeration
Documentation to Send with EMS Team
After visit summary detailing initial vital signs including pulse ox (with or without supplemental oxygen) and respiratory rate
Documentation of treatment (bronchodilators and/or steroids) received in office
