Postoperative Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy (T&A) Bleed Clinical Pathway – Emergency Department, Inpatient and PICU

KOPH Considerations

  • Begin Transfer Process to PHL upon arrival of all patients with bleeding or history of bleeding after T&A
  • Notify PHL ENT consult
  • If active bleeding, administer nebulized and IV TXA prior to transfer per pathway recommendations
  • Communicate possible need for additional TXA dose during transfer to Transport Team
