  • Interventions below provide evidence-based, non-pharmacologic interventions for management of pain and stress experienced by the children with SCD during a pain crisis to complement medication management
  • These interventions also integrate elements of physical and emotional well-being to promote healing
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Out of bed 2–3 times/day
  • Hygiene
    • Brush teeth
    • Bed linen changed
    • Clothes/gown changed
Sleep Hygiene
  • Consider reducing frequency of vital signs overnight if clinically appropriate
